Sailboat

Off the coast of Marblehead, MA

After an intense World Cup, I wanted to slow down and make a few images for myself. This one came together on a day sailing trip with some close friends. I thought it was going to be a color photo, but, after seeing the raw file, it really came together as a black and white. The main, the horizon, and the sailboat in the distance all lined up for me. Working again with the X-Pro 2 and a 16mm lens really forced me to think about composition, and using all the elements of the scene. I really like the texture in the sail, and white lines coming down in contrast.

It would be really fun to do a whole sailing series of images. This one is going to end up in the print store.
