Zack Wormhoudt competes in the 2010 Mavericks Surf Contest, Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, Half Moon Bay, California. The #maverickssurf contest might happen this week. Here’s one from 2010, the year @janosz_imagery and I shot the contest. My boat almost capsized when a rogue wave swept through the channel on the way out to the break. Our boat captain said he’d never seen it break in the channel during his 20 plus years running out of HMB. I was waist deep in water and the boat got knocked over 90 degrees when the wave hit. Luckily the boat popped right back over and we motored through the next wave. What a day! #surf #surfing #pacific #wsl
